The sky's the limit when it comes to thematic designs for kids' bedrooms, playrooms and secret forts

Designers seem divided on the issue of theme rooms for kids. On the one hand, they'll probably outgrow the theme within a few years. On the other hand, they are SO MUCH FUN until they do! Themed rooms for kiddos are not limited to bedrooms; playrooms, rec rooms, finished basements and playhouses can all carry a theme as well.


While this room has an elaborate pirate theme, it also contains an exotic, intricately carved covered bed that appeals to all ages. It's probably not just the little ones who like to curl up for a nap or reading time in this room.
